Directive 2005/36/CE of the European Parliament and Council, of 7 September 2005 , relating to the recognition of professional qualifications, which has been incorporated into our legislation by Royal Decree 1837/2008, of 8 November , controls the procedure for recognition of qualifications obtained in the European Union for the exercise of regulated professions in Spain within the sphere of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. These professions are: Economist, Insurance Actuary and Certified Auditor.
Regarding this procedure, in broad outlines it may be said that:
- It consists of recognizing in Spain qualifications obtained by nationals of any EU Member State, countries belong to the European Economic Space (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein), Switzerland and – when applicable – citizens of third countries who are also citizens of any of the foregoing States (dual nationality), for admittance to the practice of a profession or activity regulated in Spain, with the same effects as if they had obtained the corresponding Spanish qualification. Official recognition entitles the interested party to become a member of the respective professional associations and to practise the profession in those activities assigned solely to the respective professional group.
- The request must direct for him, as prerequisite and inexcusably, the General Técnica Secretariat, Paseo de la Castellana, 162 - 28071 MADRID. It consists of a common form for all of them, which has to be submitted with various supporting documents (both academic and professional), certified and accompanied by their official translation into Spanish (by a Sworn Translator, any Spanish Diplomatic Representation or Consulate abroad or by the diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the country of the nationality held by the applicant).
